Retailer Expansion into Canada – Case Study

Sunday 15th of January 2017

Overview

The client is a UK-based retailer that has embarked upon a rapid retail expansion in Canada. fishRecruit was called on to recruit for 12 new retail locations with search timelines of 3-5 weeks per location.

Tailored Service Measures

No Team in Canada

The client did not have any employees in Canada. fishRecruit was able to administer the recruitment program in a way that kept the client informed and also able to manage the process from the UK.

Canadian Targeting Strategy

Because this was the client’s initial expansion into Canada, there was no brand recognition.  In addition to sourcing candidates, we had to educate and develop an emotional connection to the brand. We became storytellers of the brand to create a desire to work with an unknown retailer.

National Execution

The client needed to staff people across three provinces in 12 locations to build their store level leadership team.

Outcome

We hired a District Manager as well as 22 managers. The client’s Vice President of Retail has since relocated to Canada.  We continue to work closely with this client as they open another 40 locations across North America.
